AASG
AASG turns capture journeys that already live in Android instrumentation tests into repeatable screenshots, cut-outs, framed media, and promotional video. It keeps the application in charge of navigation and state while making the publication pipeline strict, inspectable, and safe to rerun.
A narrow, deliberate boundary
Section titled “A narrow, deliberate boundary”Your app owns UI automation, fixtures, app state, synchronization, locale/theme application, and the moment a capture is made. AASG owns the capture matrix, supervised execution, AndroidX Test Storage collection, semantic metadata, typed media recipes, device-frame provenance, stable final artifacts, and explicitly configured Android prerequisites.
It does not replace Compose testing, UI Automator, Gradle, ADB, or FFmpeg.
Start with a reliable first run
Section titled “Start with a reliable first run”- Add AASG to an Android project that already has instrumentation capture tests.
- Generate
aasg.yamlwithaasg initand make its paths match the project. - Validate the configuration, check the host and device, then capture one journey.
See Quickstart for the full sequence, or jump to the configuration reference when you are ready to define the capture matrix.
Designed for publishable media
Section titled “Designed for publishable media”- A failed variant cannot overwrite a previously valid artifact.
- AASG validates media and semantic metadata before a stable artifact is updated.
- Device serials and likely credentials are redacted from persisted logs.
- Third-party device artwork retains its own license and provenance.
Future pages will include real AASG-generated screenshots and recordings in the documented
/media/screenshots/ and /media/videos/ asset locations. Until then, the examples are
text and configuration that can be run and reviewed directly.
